Description
Cover Girl (Columbia, 1944). Very Good/Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41.5").Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly shine in Cover Girl, a vibrant musical romance directed by Charles Vidor. Hayworth stars as Rusty Parker, a spirited and talented young woman who wins a prestigious magazine cover contest, catapulting her to fame. Her rising stardom, however, strains her relationship with her devoted boyfriend and dance partner, Danny McGuire, played by Kelly. Set against the glamorous world of fashion and entertainment, the film showcases dazzling dance sequences, including Kelly's groundbreaking "Alter Ego" routine, and memorable songs like "Long Ago (and Far Away)." At the time, Hayworth was primarily seen as a singing and dancing actress, though she would soon become famous for her femme fatale roles in classics such as Gilda (1946) and The Lady from Shanghai (1947). Hayworth's radiant charm and Kelly's dynamic energy create an irresistible pairing, while the lavish Technicolor cinematography adds visual splendor. Winning an Academy Award for Best Musical Score, Cover Girl remains one of the great movie musicals to come out of the 1940s. Somewhat noticeable restoration throughout has attempted to address edge and fold wear, creases, slight fold and crossfold separation, tears, and chips/chipping.
