Description
Wild Justice (United Artists, 1925). Folded, Very Fine-. One Sheet (28" X 41").Peter was a German Shepherd who might have been as famous as Rin-Tin-Tin or Strongheart if it wasn't for a tragedy that took the dog's life early on (and he actually made his film debut a year before Rin-Tin-Tin). Peter was brought from Germany in the early 1920s by his friend and master Edward Faust. He did some small scenes in several films and was so well trained and daring that he was called upon to perform stunts for several popular dog stars. He was finally given a leading role in the movie, The Silent Accuser (1924). Peter would make only four films before being shot dead by an enemy of his trainer. This great adventure tale stars the four-legged hero in his second lead role, in which he brings the killer of his owner to justice in the wild frontier. This is perhaps the best of the few Peter the Great posters to have been discovered over the years. Peter perches majestically on a forested mountaintop, bathed in a warm sunset glow. The stone litho colors have retained their vibrancy, and only minor signs of handling can be seen: enlarged pinholes in the borders and background, edge wear, crossfold separations, and small ink marks in the top left corner
