A Biblical tale of the romance between the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon, Queen of Sheba was an extravagant production for Fox. The film features Betty Blythe in what would be her breakout role, propelling her to become one of America's greatest stars and box-office attractions. In this spectacular tale of ancient Judea, Blythe portrays the queen who is determined to save her people from destruction, a role in which her wardrobe played its own part, consisting of nothing above the waist but a string of opulent beads. While the film had only the loosest connection to the actual Old Testament story of Solomon and Sheba, adding a "back story" and "after story" that have no Biblical reference at all, it made for great entertainment and was extremely successful. The film was directed by J. Gordon Edwards, the grandfather to director Blake Edwards, who helmed several Theda Bara pictures, and only a short fragment still survives. Professionally backed on linen, the poster once had only minor fold wear, paper loss and small tears in the borders, and slight fold separation. Touch-up has been applied to the crossfold separations and parts of the borders have been replaced and airbrushed.
