Description
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Universal International, 1948). Very Fine. Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").In a stroke of genius, Universal Pictures revitalized both its waning monster series and the flagging careers of legendary comedy duo Abbott and Costello by combining the two in the side-splitting and spooky Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello find themselves hilariously entangled with a trio of Universal's most iconic monsters, Frankenstein's Monster (Glenn Strange), Dracula (Bela Lugosi), and the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr.), with a surprise voice cameo by Vincent Price as the Invisible Man. This brilliant crossover not only delivered laughs and chills in equal measure but also marked the final time Lugosi, Chaney, and Strange would portray their famous monster roles on screen. The result was a beloved classic that remains one of Universal's most entertaining and inventive horror-comedies. Proudly presented in this lot is a complete set of eight lobby cards for the film which feature a delightful array of scenes that brilliantly highlight its ensemble cast. Flaws include light edge and corner wear, pinholes with pinhole tears and chips, some creases and smudges, a few slight scuffs, a couple of very faint stains, and a few border tears, the longest of which is along the upper border of lobby card #2 and reaches approximately 1.75" in length. There are also two strips of cellophane tape on the verso of lobby card #2.
