Original poster artwork on illustration board for Bank Holiday, directed by Carol Reed and loosely modelled on Grand Hotel (MGM, 1932), Carol Reed's film follows the varying fortunes of a disparate group of Londoners who converge on the fictional Bexborough seaside resort during a sweltering bank holiday. Although in essence a lightweight romantic melodrama with comic elements, it also provides a fascinating glimpse into the mores of British social classes at leisure, deepened by the extensive use of location shooting.
