Making its Heritage debut is this thrilling half sheet for the 1941 Universal comedy horror picture, The Black Cat. Weaving a macabre tapestry of suspense and dark humor within the confines of a storm-lashed mansion steeped in secrets, the film balances gothic horror with a sly critique of greed and inheritance, featuring excellent performances from Basil Rathbone and Bela Lugosi. Though loosely inspired by the short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe, The Black Cat charts its own eerie course, offering a compact mystery wrapped in farcical humor. Airbrushed borders have addressed edge and fold wear, pinholes with gouges and tears, creases, several tears, staining, and chips/chipping further reinforced by replacement. Additionally, touchup throughout the interior has attended to significant fold wear, pinholes, creases, tears, and a few stains. The borders remain slightly brittle and the airbrushing is lightly breaking.
