A whimsical blend of romance and comedy, René Clair's I Married a Witch features the radiant Veronica Lake at the height of her beauty and glamour, playing a mischievous witch determined to ensnare the unsuspecting descendant of the Salem witch-trials judge who burned her at the stake, both played by Fredric March. The film's appeal lies not only in the playful storyline and the irresistible charm of its leads but also in its inventive genre-blending, creating a captivating mix of romance, magic, and humor. Years later, it would inspire the seminal 1960s TV series Bewitched. Unquestionably the best card in the set, and easily one of the prettiest and most charming of any 1940s Veronica Lake portrait lobby cards, and shows only a minimum of handling or use, limited to neat staple and tack holes distributed around margins (one in center), a few faint rubs in background and credits, and very faint handling creases, none of which significantly detract from this entirely unrestored, rare card.
