Description
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (MCA Home Video, 1988). Very Fine-. Vacuum Formed Plastic Home Video Display (19.5" X 27.25").The original home video release of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1988 was an astounding event in the home entertainment industry. Released by MCA Home Video, it marked one of the first major Hollywood blockbusters to hit VHS at an affordable price point, retailing for around $24.95, (or $19.95 with a Pepsi rebate as this display touts), which was a relatively low cost for premium titles at the time. The video release allowed a new generation of viewers to experience Steven Spielberg's beloved sci-fi classic in their living rooms, further cementing its place as a timeless family favorite. This home video success also highlighted the growing influence of VHS in shaping movie-watching habits outside of theaters. Presented for the first time in Heritage's history, this display is a remarkable testament to the story of the film's home video release, seeing the beloved titular alien, his finger aglow, holding a pot of flowers. A few imperfections are visible including slight corner bends/corner wear, pinholes, a few minor creases, a couple of scuffs, a few minute border chips/tears, and some light stains primarily along the left border/within the blue background.
