Description

The Third Man by Graham Greene (Selznick, 1949) Very Fine/Near Mint. Original Second Draft Screenplay & Signed Edition (118 Pages, 8.5" X 11", 100 Pages 7" X 10").
The Third Man (1949) stands as a towering example of international film noir, blending the genre's core traits with a distinctly European atmosphere. Set in Allied-occupied Vienna, the film plunges into a world of black market dealings and shadowy alleyways. Unlike many American noirs, its danger doesn't come from femme fatales or private eyes, but from the grim aftermath of war and moral decay. Director Carol Reed's expressionistic visuals, notably the tilted Dutch camera angles and nighttime cinematography, enhance the sense of unease and moral ambiguity. Combined with Anton Karas's eerie zither score and Orson Welles's unforgettable portrayal of the elusive Harry Lime, The Third Man is heralded as a classic of noir cinema. This fantastic original script is in wonderful condition with just bumped corners. The book is from an edition of 500 copies signed by Graham Greene and is unblemished. A fabulous pair of collectibles.
