Description

Lafayette, We Come (Affiliated Distributors, 1918). Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27.5" X 41").
In this World War I romantic spy melodrama Leroy, an American and Therese, a French girl, have a romantic encounter in France in 1914 before the war, but she mysteriously vanishes. He goes back to the U.S. but returns as a soldier in 1917. Blinded in battle, Therese, who has become a Red Cross Nurse, nurses him back to health, which he only discovers after he regains his sight. After she disappears again, he searches for her, and discovers that she is a spy. Thinking she is spying for Germany, he is very shocked, but luckily it turns out she is spying for the Allies. The title of the movie is a reference to what the American soldiers said when they entered France to come to its aid in WWI (also known as "Lafayette, We Are Here", indicating the U.S. was repaying its debt to the noble Frenchman who came to the U.S. during Revolutionary times, and helped America secure her Independence. This rare poster has been backed on linen, but no restoration has been done for missing bottom corners, chips in the borders, pinholes, staining, tears, and fold wear.
