Description
The Blue Dahlia (Paramount, 1946). Folded, Fine+. Three Sheet (41" X 79").Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake return for their third of four pairings in this classic film noir about a discharged Navy aviator on the run after being accused of murdering his unfaithful wife. With the help of a mysterious blonde, he must prove his innocence before the police catch up with him. The script was the first time that Raymond Chandler had penned an original story, finishing the first half in under six weeks. Despite the Navy interfering with the original ending, Chandler was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay due to the intriguing plot and witty dialogue. The film was such a hit with audiences at the time that when Elizabeth Short was murdered several months later, the press dubbed her the Black Dahlia. This three sheet for the hit film noir is rarely seen at auction, and has only been sold by Heritage once before. This unrestored poster shows chips, tears, pinholes, creases, and staining. There are strips of paper and cellophane tape in the borders and on the verso.
