Description
MASH (20th Century Fox, 1970). Rolled, Very Fine-. British Double Crown (20" X 30") Advance, Arsen Roje Artwork. One of the greatest war films and dark comedies ever made, 1970's MASH had a winning team from the start, with masterful direction by Robert Altman and excellent performances from the talented trio of Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould, and Tom Skerritt. Set during the Korean War but serving as a biting commentary on the Vietnam War, the film follows the irreverent antics of Army surgeons Hawkeye Pierce (Sutherland), Trapper John McIntyre (Gould), and Duke Forrest (Skerritt) as they cope with the horrors of war through humor, pranks, and insubordination. Altman's innovative use of overlapping dialogue, naturalistic storytelling, and improvisational performances shattered traditional cinematic conventions, while the film's candid portrayal of the brutality of war and its sharp satire of military bureaucracy redefined the war film genre. With its critical and commercial success, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and five Academy Award nominations, with one win for Best Adapted Screenplay, MASH became a cultural phenomenon. Its enduring legacy was further cemented by the highly popular television series it inspired, highlighting the resilience of humor in the face of chaos. In lovely condition, there are only a few minor flaws present in this original release British double crown, such as mostly light edge/corner wear and creases, unobtrusive smudges/scuffs, a couple of hardly noticeable stains, and very thin toning along the edge of the right border.
