Description

The Virginian (Paramount, 1929). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
The Virginian showcases the considerable talents of a young Gary Cooper, and instantly elevated Cooper from strong leading man to full-fledged superstar. This classic Western made Cooper nervous, as it was his first talking picture. His fears were groundless, as audiences responded as favorably to his resonant voice as they had to his rugged good looks. Cooper and co-star Mary Brian are beautiful in profile on this portrait lobby card, which shows only a small tear in the upper image area, a bottom border tear into the image area, creases in the left border and across Gary Cooper, foxing in the borders, and tape on the verso. Fine/Very Fine.
