Isle of the Dead (RKO, 1945). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
This was the first of three collaborations between RKO producer Val Lewton and horror film legend Boris Karloff. It's the tale of a mystery that surrounds a group of people quarantined on a Greek island during the Balkan Wars of 1912. Fright film fans are introduced to the existence of "varvolokas, " or ancient Greek undead. The title card is perfectly creepy (ink mark top left corner, two nicks in the top border, small corner bends, pinholes in the corners, and a smudge in the bottom border. The scene cards show only pinholes in the borders, small edge tears, a tear in the bottom border, and/or torn corners. A complete set of lobbies is a rare find for fans of the horror genre. Fine/Very Fine.
