The recipient of international acclaim, Vittorio de Sica's Italian Neorealist masterwork, The Bicycle Thief, is a treasure of the world cinema. Unable to get studio funding for the film, De Sica financed the film with the help of his friends. This film won awards from the British Film Academy and the New York Film Critics, as well as the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Included in this lot is a near perfect, complete set of the original release photobustas including the original distribution envelope. The wonderful set pictures scenes from the tender classic, complemented by the great border art of Italian poster artist, Carlantonio Longi. Very Fine/Near Mint.
