Description
Cimarron (RKO, 1931). Insert (14" X 36").The first Western to win the Best Picture Oscar (and for almost sixty years, the only one) was this tale of the Oklahoma land rush starring Richard Dix and Irene Dunne. Released during the worst of the Depression, the film was perhaps the only Best Picture winner to lose money on its first release. You will find this title on almost every "Best Picture" poster want list that exists amongst collectors, and with good reason. There are just a handful of posters known to exist, and we have offered this insert style only once before. The artwork by Frederic C. Madan carries as much drama across the poster as the film did on the screen. The poster has had restoration with touchup and paper backing. There is edge wear, some fold wear, and pinholes in the borders and background. This is a very scarce format and sure to be desired by Academy Award winner and Western collectors alike. Fine+ on Paper.
