World War I Propaganda (ca. Late 1910s). Overall: Fine+ on Linen. Red Cross Posters (2) (20.5" X 27.5" & 22" X 32"). War.
These World War I American Red Cross posters, one bearing a compelling fundraising appeal and the other displaying the iconic red cross emblem, exemplify early 20th-century humanitarian propaganda designed to mobilize public support by linking personal sacrifice with national duty and the urgent need for war relief. Restored posters with good color and overall very presentable appearances. They may have edge, corner, and handling wear, a couple of pinholes, creases, slight crunching, smudges, significant scuffs, tears, subtle darkening, a couple of ink stamps and graphite markings, and horizontal divots. There are also some ink stamps on the line versos. Although backed on linen, no additional restoration has been applied. Additionally, the linen has been trimmed to the borders. The emblem only poster displays the majority of the wear. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades.
