The Big Trail (Fox, 1931). Folded, Very Fine+. Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.25").
Raoul Walsh's The Big Trail holds the distinction of being the first ever shot in 70mm, a groundbreaking format at the time. Since only a handful of theaters were equipped to project it, a 35mm version was simultaneously produced for wider distribution. The film's bold tagline, "The Most Important Film Ever Produced," was a nod to the innovative technology behind it, but it may also have foreshadowed the debut of its inexperienced leading man, as the film marked John Wayne's first starring role. Posters from this pioneering early sound Western are exceptionally rare. While we've previously offered a few Swedish one sheets from this title, this is the first time we're presenting this particular style, showcasing a striking, vividly colored image of a young Wayne. Signs of age in this poster are limited, with it displaying only light edge/fold wear, subtle creases, a few miniscule chips/tears along the borders, and small graphite markings at the bottom right corner. Although previously folded, this poster will be shipped rolled.
