Description

Laughing Sinners (MGM, 1931). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41").
Making its Heritage debut is this wonderfully vibrant one sheet for the earlier Joan Crawford film, Laughing Sinners. A poignant pre-Code drama, the film showcases Crawford's emotional range as a nightclub entertainer whose life spirals into despair before she finds redemption through faith and love. Interestingly, TV's future Commissioner Gordon, Neil Hamilton, plays the primary love interest in this Crawford vehicle, rather than the third-billed Clark Gable, who would go on to co-star with Crawford in six more films, forming one of the most indelible screen couples of the Golden Age. Paired with moral complexity and early Hollywood boldness, the film offers a compelling snapshot of a star on the rise and a studio unafraid to challenge convention. The majority of the borders have been airbrushed and touchup has been applied to the folds to correct fold wear, creases, fold/crossfold separation, some tears, and a few minute chips. Additionally, airbrushing and replacement have addressed missing upper left and bottom right corners, while airbrushing has corrected slight stains within the title treatment. It now presents beautifully.
