Though he began his career as as an editor, David Lean became one of Britain's preeminent directors with such films as A Brief Encounter, Oliver Twist, Summertime, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and, offered here, Lawrence of Arabia. Based on T.E. Lawrence's book, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Peter O'Toole plays the eponymous British army officer who motivates the warring Arab tribes to unite in revolt against the Ottoman Empire Turks during World War I. This magnificent epic of war, self-discovery, and self-determination captivated audiences everywhere, who made it the second highest grossing film of the year. The style D one sheet from the continued theatrical release boasts of the magnificent film's seven of ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, a second Best Director win for Lean, and Best Original Score for the memorable music. The poster is in fine condition, showing small tears, fold separation, and creases, with pieces of cellophane tape in the borders that wrap over to the verso.
