Description
The Outlaw Josey Wales (Columbia-Warner, 1976). Fine on Linen. British Poster (40.75" X 61") Roy Anderson Artwork.A pinnacle of 1970s cinema, The Outlaw Josey Wales is a gripping revisionist Western directed by Clint Eastwood from a script worked on by both Sonia Chernus and Phillip Kaufman. Eastwood delivers one of his most iconic performances as Josey Wales, a peaceful Missouri farmer whose life is shattered when Union soldiers brutally murder his family in the bloody aftermath of the Civil War. Driven by vengeance, he becomes an outlaw pursued by bounty hunters and corrupt officials, but as he journeys through the untamed frontier, he unexpectedly forms a surrogate family with a group of outcasts. Blending intense action sequences, stunning cinematography, and a morally complex narrative, the film subverts traditional Western tropes, offering a tale of survival, redemption, and the harsh realities of war. Chief Dan George's scene-stealing performance as the wise and humorous Lone Watie adds depth to the story, while Eastwood's direction infuses it with both grit and emotional resonance. Complemented by Roy Anderson's glorious artwork, presented here for the first time in our history is this large-format British poster which solidifies The Outlaw Josey Wales as not only a Western masterpiece but one of Eastwood's finest achievements. Airbrushing along the borders and within the white background to address edge and fold wear, pinholes, creases, tears, chips, stains including tape stains, as well as one minor area of paper loss that is further corrected by replacement. Some flaws and restoration may remain lightly visible.
