Three Texas Steers (Republic, 1939). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
As John Wayne's years making B Westerns came to a close, he found himself featured in Republic's The Three Mesquiteers series. The films based on William Colt McDonald's books started in 1935 and ran until 1943 with a total of 58 films. Wayne was cast as Stony Brooke, for eight of the pictures. This one sheet has been acclaimed as one of the best posters to feature the Duke from the series. The beautiful Carole Landis, who gained later fame, is pictured on this gorgeous poster, but is not even mentioned on it. Restoration has addressed fold wear with extra creases and crossfold separation, all the borders have been airbrushed, as is the white in the Republic logo.
