Description

The Moral Fabric (Triangle, 1916). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (28" X 41").
In The Moral Fabric, wealthy businessman Scott Winthrop (Frank Mills) is devastated when his wife, Amy (Edith Reeves), falls for radical ideals and leaves him for Mackley Stuart (Howard Hickman). Forced into marriage by public scandal, Amy and Stuart later cross paths with Winthrop in Europe, where he feigns friendship while subtly manipulating Amy. When she tries to return to him, he coldly rejects her, proving that morality cannot be discarded without consequences and taking satisfaction in ruining their lives as they ruined his. Raymond B. West was a prolific silent film director known for his work with the Triangle Film Corporation, where he specialized in atmospheric dramas and Westerns, while lead actor Frank Mills would die just five years later in an insane asylum. This poster, which is the first piece of paper of any kind we have offered for this title, and is notably a Triangle Kay-Bee production, has airbrushed borders, edge chips, and tears. Given the obscurity of this film today, it is remarkable that any posters survived.
