Description
Life Behind the Bars (Barnsdale, 1903). Fine+ on Linen. Travelling Film Poster (21" X 29.25").Presented here is a very early 20th Century poster from a traveling film circuit, with the company name and film title printed on a snipe affixed to the top edge of the poster. Walter Barnsdale was a pioneering filmmaker from Wisconsin who founded a traveling moving picture show company that showcased feature films using the best electric lighting equipment available at the time. He toured across the country, bringing movies to audiences in rural areas who often couldn't travel to the city to experience films. This poster has corner creases, touchup along the central fold, tears in the title snipe, and has some airbrushed areas.
