Frankenstein (Universal, R-1947). Fine on Paper. Half Sheet (22" X 28").
Universal's 1931 production of Frankenstein made a star of actor Boris Karloff and firmly established the studio in the Golden Age of Horror, initiated earlier that year with Bela Lugosi's performance in Dracula. Paper from this landmark film is incredibly scarce, bringing record prices when it does appear. An attractive alternative to the original paper, this reissue half sheet has been offered only once before at Heritage, making this scarce piece a special opportunity! Restoration has addressed border wear including corner chips, creases, tears, and pinholes with some staining and slight paper loss to the upper right image of Colin Clive. Touchup has been applied to fold wear and chipping with airbrush application to the borders. There are small strips of tape on the verso.
