Chase Me Charlie (Essanay, 1918). Folded, Fine. One Sheet (28" X 42").
First released in England in 1917 as a seven-reeler shown to British troops at the war front, this film was created by compiling many Essanay-Chaplin clips and outtakes from The Tramp, By the Sea, The Bank, Shanghaied, A Night Out, In the Park, The Champion, The Woman, and His New Job. Unfortunately, the release of the film was unauthorized by Chaplin, but he had no legal right to stop his former studio after he lost a similar court case over the compilation film A Burlesque of Carmen. Chase Me Charlie also features Edna "Sugar-Plum" Purviance, Leo White and Ben Turpin. With rich stone litho colors, this one sheet displays mild fold wear and separation, edge wear, creases, and pinholes. There are small tears, chips, and some staining.
