Description

Gigi (MGM, 1959). Fine on Linen. First Release Spanish One Sheet (26" X 38").
Gigi is a lavish musical romance directed by Vincente Minnelli and based on the 1944 novella by Colette. Set in 1900 in the opulent world of Belle Époque Paris, the film follows Gigi (Leslie Caron), a free-spirited young woman being groomed to become a courtesan under the guidance of her grandmother (Hermione Gingold) and great-aunt (Isabel Jeans). However, her playful friendship with the wealthy and charming Gaston Lachaille (Louis Jourdan) takes an unexpected turn as he begins to see her as more than just a companion. Featuring a memorable collection of songs, including classics like "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" and "I Remember It Well," Gigi was a critical and commercial success, winning nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture. With its enchanting performances, stunning production design, and witty exploration of love and societal expectations, Gigi remains a beloved classic of Hollywood's Golden Age. Presented here for the first time in Heritage's history is this exquisite first release Spanish one sheet for Gigi. Somewhat noticeable touchup primarily along the borders and folds has addressed fold wear, creases, fold/crossfold separation, a couple of chips, small to significant tears, and stains including tape stains. A light ink stamp in the upper right corner remains visible. Additionally, there may be a few strips of tape and paper remnants on the verso in between the linen backing. Some flaws and restoration may remain lightly visible.
