The Fighting Eagle (Pathé, 1927). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Based on The Adventures of Gerard by Arthur Conan Doyle, this swashbuckling romance was produced by Cecil B. DeMille and stars Rod La Rocque as Brigadier Etienne Gerard, he thwarts Foreign Minister Talleyrand (Sam de Grasse) and exposes him as a traitor to Napoleon (Max Barwyn). La Roque's big acting break came a few years earlier when DeMille cast him in The Ten Commandments (1923). In 1927, he married Hungarian-born actress Vilma Bánky. The film also features Phyllis Haver (Chicago, 1927), Julia Faye (Sampson and Delilah, 1949), Sally Rand (of "fan dance" fame) and an uncredited appearance by Carole Lombard. The dashing image fills the poster with vibrant colors. Professional restoration applied touchup to folds, crossfold separation, chips to borders, pinholes, small tears to bottom border, and parts of borders were airbrushed.
