Shanghai Bound (Paramount, 1927). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. One Sheet (27" X 41").
While he also had major success in westerns, Richard Dix was a versatile actor who also stared in comedies, dramas, mysteries, and adventure films. One such adventure film was Shanghai Bound, in which he portrayed a sea boat captain landing in a Chinese port and must defend his passengers (including a singer named Shanghai Rose) from a marauding gang of pirates. Dix was one of the few actors able to transition from silent films to sound. His star continued to rise due to his handsome looks and natural talent, and the highlight of his career was in the Best Picture Academy Award winner Cimarron, which would earn him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. This rare poster shows a profile of Dix against a purple background, different from most paper for the film. The unrestored poster shows some edge and fold wear, small tears, a few pinholes, fold separation, slight creases, and unobtrusive smudges.
