Curse of the Cat People is an in-name-only sequel to Cat People (1942), trading horror for a haunting psychological fantasy centered on a lonely, imaginative child named Amy (Ann Carter), who conjures an imaginary friend in the form of her father's deceased first wife (Simone Simon). Though met with a lukewarm reception upon its initial release, the film has been reappraised over the years and is now regarded as a sensitive, poetic classic of psychological suspense. Originally directed by Gunther von Fritsch, the production was completed by Robert Wise, marking his directorial debut, after von Fritsch fell behind schedule. The film's ethereal yet menacing one sheet echoes the design of the original Cat People poster, capturing the dreamlike atmosphere that defines this quietly powerful and unconventional sequel. Airbrushing to parts of the borders and touchup to the majority of the folds has addressed fold wear, pinholes, some creases, small crossfold separation, fold separation, minute misfolds, border tears, and small chips further corrected by replacement. Some flaws remain lightly visible.
