Description

Son of Kong (RKO, 1933). Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41.25"). Glenn Cravath Artwork.
The sequel to King Kong, this RKO adventure was released just eight months after the original, directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack. The story follows Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong), who is in hiding after Kong's rampage in New York, trying to avoid bill collectors and the police. Warned of his potential arrest, he leaves New York with Captain Englehorn (Frank Reicher) and sets off on a new adventure. Docked on a South Pacific island, they meet Captain Helstrom, who gave Denham the original map that led him to Skull Island, and they return to find a secret treasure, only to be attacked by the Islanders. Fleeing to another side of the island, they meet Kiko, the Son of Kong. Animated by Willis O'Brien, the film is a hilarious romp, and loved by many fans. Backed to linen, restoration has addressed wear and splits to the folds as well as chips to the fold junctions and within the borders. The borders have been airbrushed. Talented restoration has addressed these issues wonderfully and the poster presents very well. Note that this poster is fresh to market has never been offered anywhere for public sale. From the Robert and Carla Schenk Collection.
