Gun for a Coward by Anselmo Ballester (Universal International, 1957). Fine/Very Fine. Signed Original Mixed Media Poster Artwork on Illustration Board (19" X 26.5").
Italian posters are among the most collectible in the hobby, due in no small part to their awe-inspiring artwork. Often far superior in design and artistic execution than posters from other national campaigns, the pieces hung unceremoniously on the walls of Italian cinemas could be considered illustrative masterworks. One of the greatest of those craftsmen was master poster artist Anselmo Ballester. This lot is an example of his brilliance in bringing a story to light through a carefully crafted image of star Fred MacMurray. Gouache paint was applied to the illustration board with applied registration lines for printing in the borders.
