Description

The Night Cry (Warner Bros., 1926). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 40.5").
Rin Tin Tin's films were so popular, that he is credited with saving Warners from bankruptcy, and was allegedly referred to as "the mortgage lifter" by studio employees. The first 'Rin Tin Tin' was discovered during World War I, September 15, 1918, by US Air Corporal Lee Duncan and his battalion in Lorraine, France. At a bombed out dog kennel, Duncan chose two of the dogs, a male and female naming them 'Rin Tin Tin' and 'Nannette. In 1922, Duncan unexpectedly stumbled onto a Warner Bros (Vitaphone) film crew trying to shoot an exterior scene with a wolf and proposed that Rinty could do the scene in one take, which he did, and both were hired for the entire shoot of Man from Hells River, eventually earning $6,000 a week a few years later in 1926. Poster restoration included touchup to folds, minor fold separation, minor tears to borders, lettering, and enlarged pinholes. There remains slight bleed through from verso.
