Description

London After Midnight (MGM, 1927). Very Fine-. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
London After Midnight is one of the most legendary lost films of the silent era, directed by Tod Browning and starring Lon Chaney. This mystery-horror film follows Chaney as Scotland Yard inspector Edmund Burke, who investigates eerie happenings at a mansion where a wealthy man has died under suspicious circumstances. Disguising himself as a ghoulish figure with a menacing grin, sharp teeth, and a top hat, Chaney's chilling appearance became iconic, immortalized in still photographs and promotional materials despite the film itself being lost after the last known print was destroyed in a 1965 MGM vault fire. This striking lobby card captures Chaney in his detective role alongside female lead Marceline Day, framed by a beautifully designed border featuring his unforgettable vampire guise. With its eerie visuals and gothic undertones, London After Midnight remains one of cinema's most sought-after missing treasures, surviving only through production images and a reconstructed version pieced together from stills. This rare card shows pinholes in the borders and interior, a tear in the bottom border, and corner bends in the corners, one of which has tape on the back. From the Sam Sarowitz Collection.
