Description

The Bride of Frankenstein (Universal, 1935). Fine. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
A pivotal scene from legendary director James Whale's The Bride of Frankenstein, this lobby card presents an image of the still dead body of The Bride (Elsa Lanchester) as mad scientist Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) and his former mentor Dr. Septimus Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) eagerly await to bring this newest creation to life. Celebrated for its effective blend of horror and tragedy, The Bride of Frankenstein has deeply influenced its genre. With its pioneering use of sophisticated make-up techniques, set design, allegorical undertones, and emotional depth, its legacy remains enduring. Touchup has addressed several pinholes, paper lifts, creases, and tears along the borders and within the background. Very faint staining along the right border and color fading remains visible.
