This landmark film noir weaves a dark, intricate tale of deception, fatal romance, and inevitable downfall. Robert Mitchum stars as Jeff Bailey, a former private investigator trying to escape his murky past. When he's pulled back in by a smooth-talking gangster (Kirk Douglas), he revisits a doomed affair with the mysterious and dangerous Kathie Moffat (Jane Greer). The film's moody cinematography, fatalistic tone, and sharp, world-weary dialogue exemplify noir style. The screenplay was written to perfection by Daniel Mainwaring, under his pseudonym Geoffrey Homes, and adapted from his own novel Build My Gallows High. With its flashback-driven narrative and haunting performances, Out of the Past remains one of the genre's most enduring classics. There was touch-up to address splits and chips to the corners and some border areas; splits, small chips and wear along the folds. Thanks to these efforts, the poster displays very nicely. There are a few light scuffs in the upper area.
