Description
The Man with the Golden Arm (United Artists, 1955). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Saul Bass Artwork. This iconic one sheet for Otto Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm features groundbreaking artwork by designer Saul Bass, whose bold geometric style revolutionized film poster and title design. Advertising the gritty drama starring Frank Sinatra, Eleanor Parker, and Kim Novak, the poster's jagged arm motif and stark modernist aesthetic visually echo the film's daring exploration of addiction and inner turmoil. Backed on linen, both airbrushing and touchup have addressed edge and fold wear, pinholes with tears, creases, fold/crossfold separation, minor misfolds, a few light stains, and mostly small chips (further corrected by replacement.) Some flaws, including light staining and light edge toning, remain visible. Additionally, there are a few light stains and paper lifts along the linen borders.
