Description
Bessie Love (Pathe, 1918). Full-Bleed One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5").Born Juanita Horton in Midland, Texas, "Bessie Love" received her start in motion pictures at the behest of Tom Mix. She landed at Biograph Studios, where she worked with director D.W. Griffith, who gave the delicate ingénue her screen name. Love went on to play innocent young girls, flappers, and wholesome leading ladies, becoming a star with Pathe in 1918. The actress was also able to transition to talkies quite well, and even earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in The Broadway Melody (1929). This full-bleed poster features a lovely portrait of the starlet during her time with Pathe. Professional restoration has addressed a small hole in the bottom right background, a tear in the bottom border that extends into Love's name and middle background. There is a crease still slightly visible in the upper left. Fine+ on Linen.
