This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). One Sheet (27" X 41").
At the dawn of the film noir era, Veronica Lake with her stylish "peek-a-boo" hair was cast with minor actor Alan Ladd in this murder for hire mystery that would become an iconic title of the times. The film was so popular that both of their careers "took off" and the pair became an on-screen team that were featured together in several other pictures. Over the years, this one sheet has been acclaimed as one of the greatest movie posters ever designed and it's popularity transcends the movie poster collecting world. To this day, it has become one of the most sought after titles in the hobby. The borders have been airbrushed and there has been some minor touchup to the white of the lower credits. There were also some misfold lines by the upper horizontal fold that have been touched up with a bit more work done to the upper center point in Lake's forehead. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
