Description
Creature from the Black Lagoon (Universal International, 1954). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").While Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf Man were based on literature or legend, Universal's Creature from the Black Lagoon was a wholly original creation, and the last "classic" monster to be considered part of the pantheon. The monster suit was certainly one of the best ever created for film -- largely the work of Universal staffer Millicent Patrick -- and still holds up over fifty years after its original release. Offered in this lot is a rare complete lobby card set featuring bright color and great images of the Gill-man on multiple cards. The title card has been restored to address a corner chip and staple holes in the corner, the Gill-man "solo" card has had touchup to pinholes and a tiny upper left corner chip, and the "net" card had and upper right corner chip repaired. The rest of the cards show pinholes in the corners and background, a nick in one of the corners, a tear in one border, and some light smudging. Overall, a terrific looking set! Fine+.
