Description

Arsenic and Old Lace (Warner Brothers, 1944). Insert (14" X 36").
Frank Capra's fast-paced screwball comedy classic was based on a Broadway play about a news reporter (Cary Grant) going home to tell his aunts that he's finally gotten married. When he arrives he finds the two ladies have a knack for killing off elderly men and burying them in their basement. The situation only gets worse when his brother, a psychopathic murderer (Raymond Massey) has just escaped from jail and has arrived home at the same time. The rest of the cast features Priscilla Lane as Grant's newlywed bride and Peter Lorre as the evil Dr. Einstein who assists Massey in his diabolical plans. This film has become a classic and proved that Grant was just as comfortable with comedy as he was with suave sophistication. The poster had been folded, but was paper-backed to reinforce some fold separations. There was a chip off of the upper right corner, a tear in the center of the right side and all of the white areas have had light airbrushing. Fine+ on Paper.
