Ann Sheridan Publicity Still by George Hurrell (Warner Brothers, 1940). Still (8" X 10"). Vintage black and white, single weight, glossy still. Warner Brothers would promote their sexy star, Ann Sheridan, with the publicity department hype phrase "The Oomph Girl". Sheridan, however, a true Texas gal who played on her girl's college basketball team, never saw herself as anything but a "tomboy". But the publicity department wins this round! This stunning study by George Hurrell with Sheridan in full "meow" attitude lounging on her leopard chaise, tugging gently on her tasseled belt, has a better plot than some of her films. The photograph has a printed signature, but with the Hurrell stamp on the back, was most likely sent out to magazine editors or top newspaper entertainment editors. Great black and white tones, with only a small chip in the top left border, small corner creases, and slight edge wear with tiny tears. Very Fine-.
