Description
Breakfast For Two (RKO, 1937). Very Fine- on Linen. Three Sheet (41.25" X 79").Barbara Stanwyck stars with Herbert Marshall in this film, originally titled A Love Like That, immediately following her Oscar-nominated turn in Stella Dallas, and the versatile actress considered this screwball comedy a welcome respite after the dramatic intensity of that previous effort. Breakfast for Two came during the height of the screwball genre's spell in Hollywood and debuted in the same weekend as Columbia's classic The Awful Truth, both of which only preceded the Carole Lombard and Fredric March vehicle Nothing Sacred by a month. Though not as well-remembered as those contemporaries, Breakfast for Two was Stanwyck's first screwball effort and gives viewers a preview of the kind of performances she would later be widely celebrated for in The Lady Eve and Ball of Fire. Heritage offers for the first time a three sheet for Breakfast for Two, which features lovely renditions of the two leads alongside the scene-stealing Eric Blore as the beleaguered butler "Butch." Airbrushing of parts of the borders and some of the credits box in the bottom panel has remedied some pinholes, chips, and slight crossfold separation, and touchup to other parts of the folds and minor creases along with color touchup to parts of the title have assisted in preserving this poster's cheery presentation. A few of the horizontal folds are softly creasing through the linen.
