Why I Would Not Marry? (Fox, 1918). One Sheet (27" X 41.5").
Lucy Fox portrays a woman unsure of her future and caught between the proposals of four different suitors. She resorts to enlisting the aid of a fortuneteller, hoping to reveal which of the four men would lead to her brightest future, only to find that each path leads to equal ruin and that she must work to find her own happiness. The plot may have sounded a bit too familiar to audiences at the time, as it took its story almost directly from the 1917 Broadway play titled The Eyes of Youth, which would be made into its own film the following year starring Clara Kimball Young and cast a pre-stardom Rudolph Valentino as a con artist. It's Heritage's first time to sell this fantastic stone litho one sheet, which has undergone restoration to address pinholes in the background and borders, misfolds, multiple tears throughout, and has applied touchup to the folds.
