Description

Foreign Correspondent by Charles Bennett, Joan Harrison, James Hilton, Robert Benchley, Ben Hecht, & Richard Maibaum (United Artists, 1940). Very Fine-. Cutting Continuity Script (83 Pages, 8.5" X 11").
This Alfred Hitchcock thriller features plenty of action, Nazi spies, kidnappings, a faked death, attempted murder, and a plane crash. One of the picture's most memorable and original scenes is the assassination that takes place in rainy London, shot from above so that the audience watches the action through the movement of a sea of black umbrellas. Joel McCrea, Laraine Day, and George Sanders all star, as well as Herbert Marshall in a surprising role. The screenplay changed writers several times over the course of its production, but the film eventually earned itself a nomination for a Best Picture Academy Award. With pages numbered by the reel, this bradded, carbon copy continuity script was an essential tool in the editing process. Signs of use include mild edge and spine wear, some corner bends, a few minor tears, as well as unobtrusive stains and smudging. The front and back covers show the majority of these issues. Very Fine-.
