The Life of Buffalo Bill (Pawnee Bill Film Co., 1912). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet with Tip-On (28" X 48").
In the early 1900s, Walter Barnsdale launched a "traveling moving picture show" that toured carnivals and circuses, bringing the magic of cinema to rural audiences who had little access to city theaters. Featuring over 100 reels of classic feature films and powered by state-of-the-art lighting equipment run by an electric generator, Barnsdale's show was a marvel of its time. Among the highlights was The Life of Buffalo Bill, one of several films starring the legendary William F. Cody, promoted here with this stunning stone lithograph poster. A small area of airbrushing along the lower left border has corrected pinholes, a tear, a paper lift, and a small stain while parts of the patterned interior border have ad touchup applied. Other flaws, such as edge wear, creases, and some chips and tears, remain visible.
