Description

Flirting with Fate (Triangle, 1916). Six Sheet (80.25" X 80.5").
Prior to becoming the world renown swashbuckler and box office heartthrob as we know him today, Douglas Fairbanks' early career revolved around his numerous parts as hapless leading men in several silent comedies. His natural strength and agility lent him well to the stunt-prone genre, performing athletic feats that left audiences thrilled in this hilarious tale of a formerly suicidal man trying to elude the assassin he hired himself. This is Heritage's first time to offer a poster from this Christy Cabanne comedy, a lovely example of stone litho printing process. The poster shows pinholes in the borders, fold wear with minor tears and separations, small chips and tears in the borders and panel edges, creases near Douglas Fairbanks' head, and a few small gouges around the word "Plays." There is staining with surface rippling throughout the poster, a V-shaped tear in the right center horizontal fold with archival tape on the verso, and the poster exhibits some slight brittleness. Folded, Fine+.
