Description

Filibus (Corona, 1915). Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78").
Full of heists, secret identities, and technical gadgetry, Filibus follows the cat-and-mouse chase between Baroness Troixmonde's alter ego, the master thief Filibus (played by Cristine Ruspoli), and her determined pursuer, Detective Hardy (Mario Mariani). A film before its time, Mario Roncoroni and Giocanni Bertinetti's action-packed picture broke with contemporary trends in featuring a powerful and intelligent female character in complete control of the plot, and is one of the earliest portrayals of a character comfortable with moving between genderbending personas and disguises. Not only that, but Filibus is also considered a precursor to the sci-fi genre with such futuristic technology as personal airships and miniature cameras. This beautiful stone litho illustration shows fold wear with some separation, light fold toning, pinholes in the borders, staining in the borders with some in the image, chipping in a vertical fold in the image of the upper section, and archival tape on the verso. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
