Description

The Black Pirate (United Artists, 1926). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Already rampantly popular from his roles in The Mark of Zorro, Robin Hood, and The Thief of Baghdad, Douglas Fairbanks brought an unprecedented level of entertainment to audiences with the newest advancement in filmmaking: Technicolor. This process enhanced all of the action and thrills the screen could offer, resulting in one of the tightest and most exciting productions in the actor's impressive career. More than a trendsetter,The Black Pirate created the mold for Hollywood swashbucklers with a near foolproof formula of swordplay, cutthroat treachery, and explosions still in use today. The most desired style of the film's beautiful stone litho one sheets, this is a rare opportunity indeed for a great addition to any collection. Prior to restoration, there were pinholes in the background along the borders, a few small tears at the center horizontal fold, and a small tear from the left border into the background. Touchup has been applied to the folds, and the borders have been restored. The lower title box area has been replaced and the image shows some color loss, but this is still a beautiful and highly sought after piece by collectors everywhere. Very Good- on Linen.
