Description
Bowling For Britain (Warner Bros., 1941). Fine+. Autographed Souvenir Program (4 Pages, 8.5" X 11") & Souvenir Ribbon (8" X 1.5").A Heritage first, offered here is a program for a special charity event autographed by some of the biggest and most iconic stars of the golden age of Hollywood. The four-page program is for an event called Bowling for Britain which took place on March 30, 1941 at the Sunset Bowling Center in Hollywood, California. Spectators watched as numerous movie stars took part in games of bowling with the proceeds going to the British War Relief Association, a humanitarian organization that provided non-military aid to the people of Great Britain during World War II. The front cover of this program is autographed by many of the stars at the event, with signatures including Cary Grant, Olivia de Havilland, Tyrone Power, Rita Hayworth, Gary Cooper, Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce, Charles Boyer, Herbert Marshall, Ronald Colman, George Murphy, Greer Garson, Reginald Gardiner, Anna Lee, John Howard, Brian Aherne, and more. Also included is a red, white, and blue ribbon from the event. The program has light edge and spine wear, slight creases, and faint smudges. There is a minor vertical fold on the right side of the front cover, and there are four pinholes in the spine. The front cover also has a few unobtrusive stains. The back cover of the program has paper lifts, paper remnants, and significant adhesive stains where is was taken out of a scrapbook. The ribbon also has some adhesive stains and paper remnants on the verso. Heritage is confident in the authenticity of the signatures in this lot and will provide a certificate of authenticity upon request.
